Any ideas for simple cookie recipes that can be prepared with few ingredients?

I found out very last minute that a friend is having a housewarming/birthday party this evening. I figured it'd be nice to get her a serving dish for her new house and fill it with some homemade cookies, however I am very, very limited in ingredients.

I have:

-Butter

-White granulated sugar

-Brown sugar

-Ground cinnamon

-Whole wheat flour

-Baking powder

-Eggs

-Milk

-Salt

-Vanilla

-M%26amp;M's

-Chopped walnuts

I was thinking Snickerdoodles but, unfortunately, I do not have any cream of tartar and most recipes call for that.

Any ideas?Any ideas for simple cookie recipes that can be prepared with few ingredients?

There used to be a recipe for sugar cookies on the corn starch box, the one with indian maiden and a ear of corn on it. there the simplist and delicious. I dont remember the recipe myself but if you have a box of cornstarch its worth looking for. try typing simple cookie recipies.
Go to allrecipes.com and do an ingredients search.

Here are some I found, inlcuding Snickerdoodles with no cream of tarter

WHOLE WHEAT SNICKERDOODLES

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 cups white sugar

1 cup butter, softened

1 egg

1 egg white

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons white sugar

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

DIRECTIONS

In a mixing bowl, cream sugar and butter or margarine until fluffy. Add egg and egg white; beat well. Stir together flours, soda, and salt; beat into creamed mixture.

In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon. Shape dough into walnut sized balls, and roll in cinnamon sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.

Bake at 400 degrees F (205 degrees C) for 8 to 10 minutes. Cookies will puff up and flatten as they bake. Cool on wire racks.

BEST WHOLE WHEAT CHIPPERS

of course you can leave out the nuts or even the chips if you don't have them

INGREDIENTS

2 cups brown sugar

1 cup white sugar

2 cups butter, softened

4 eggs

2 tablespoons vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

4 3/4 cups whole wheat flour

1 cup ground pecans

4 cups semisweet chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

In a large bowl, cream together the brown sugar, white sugar, and butter until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each one. Stir in the vanilla, salt, and baking soda until well blended, then mix in the ground pecans and flour. Stir in the chocolate chips last. Try not to over mix once you add the flour.

Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough onto ungreased baking sheets so they are about 2 inches apart.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven, until the cookies are just starting to brown at the edges. Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.

THE LINK HAS OTHER SEARCH RESULTS
You have all the right ingredients for something good. As a former navy baker, we often had to improvise our recipes with what was available. This recipe should make something decent

1 cup butter (2 sticks)

2 cups Brown Sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp. BP

1/2 tsp. salt

1 tsp Cinnamon

2 1/2 cups flour

First cream the butter and sugar until it's fluffy. Then add the eggs, and beat it some more. Add every other ingredient except the flour, and mix well. Slowly incorporate all the flour, be careful not to overmix. Add whatever nuts/extras you want. 10-12 minutes in a 350 degree oven should do the trick.
