Soft and chewy sugar cookie recipes?

Everywhere I look I can't find a really good chewy sugar cookie recipe. All of the ones I find have frosting and sprinkles and extra stuff. I love the sugar cookies at Hometown buffet, anyone know what I'm talking about? Does anyone have a good recipe for me? I am craving them so bad.

Thank you in advance.Soft and chewy sugar cookie recipes?

Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and nutmeg; set aside. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg, vanilla and sour cream until well blended. Stir in the sifted ingredients. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill overnight.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4 inch in thickness. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Place cookies 1 1/2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.Soft and chewy sugar cookie recipes?

------

BEST sugar cookies ever. Sour cream is the key!

Cream together:

2 cups of sugar

3/4 cup of butter

2 eggs

1/2 cup of sour cream (or more!)

Sift together than add to liquid:

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 teaspoons of baking powder

vanilla to flavor

Approximately 4 cups of flour.

You need a good mixer to incorporate that much flour! I have a Kitchenaid.

Halve the dough and chill for about an hour. Heat the oven to 375.

Roll out on a floured surface. Roll the dough kind of thick (at least 2 cm). Cut into whatever shapes you want. Bake for 8-10 minutes (less is better). I like to use parchment paper instead of foil and no-stick spray.

(Icing - 1 c powdered sugar, little bit of almond extract, 2 tbs milk, 1 tbs corn syrup, food coloring)
you can make the cookie and not put the frosting on it and to make it chewy bake at 325 F and make sure not to over bake

enjoy
