You could use sugar or have you ever used SPLENDA? I use that all the time!!!
How about using SPLENDA ? They taste as good !!!
You could just use regular white sugar with some maple syrup to substitute for the brown sugar. I do it alllllll the time and it comes out to taste the same (and I have to admit a little sweeter)
Grandma's Oatmeal Cookies
1 cup raisins
1 cup water
3/4 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
2 cups quick-cooking oats
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
In a saucepan, cook raisins in water over medium heat until plump, about 15 minutes. Drain, reserving liquid. Add enough water to liquid to measure 1/2 cup.
In a mixing bowl, cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla extract. Stir in raisin liquid. Blend in dry ingredients. Stir in raisins and oats. Add nuts if desired. Drop by teaspoonsful about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees F for 10 to 12 minutes or until light brown.
Do you not have brown sugar or do you just not want to use it?
